Description
A black onyx bracelet is traditionally associated in jewellery with strength and protection, but those meanings are symbolic rather than scientific properties. Black onyx is chalcedony around Mohs 6.5–7, suitable for regular wear with reasonable scratch protection. Much commercial black onyx is treated or dyed chalcedony, so gem testing is the reliable authenticity check. Gold, silver and steel settings are common; keep the stone away from harsh chemicals and clean gently.
